Dry Needling

Dry Needling

Dry needling is a therapeutic technique used to treat musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction by inserting thin, solid needles into trigger points, or knots, in the muscles. These trigger points are areas of tightness or irritation that can cause localized pain or refer discomfort to other areas of the body. By targeting these points, dry needling helps to release tension, improve blood flow, and stimulate the body’s natural healing response. The technique is commonly used to treat conditions such as neck pain, back pain, headaches, and sports injuries.

Unlike acupuncture, which is based on traditional Chinese medicine, dry needling is rooted in modern Western medicine and focuses on the musculoskeletal system. The treatment typically results in reduced muscle stiffness and improved range of motion, making it especially useful for athletes and those recovering from injuries. Although some patients may experience mild soreness after treatment, the benefits often include quicker recovery from pain and better overall muscle function. Dry needling is often used in combination with other therapies, such as physical therapy, to optimize results.
